AMSTERDAM, 13 NOVEMBER 2014 – With the signing of the purchase deed a century of psychiatry ended in the Valeriuskliniek in Amsterdam. The name of the notorious clinic on the Valeriusplein lives on in the New Valerius, the new location of ‘GGZ inGeest’ on the Amstelveenseweg in Amsterdam-South.
The building on the Valeriusplein, about. 10,000 m² and situated on its own property has been bought De Jong Groep & Bevima Holding B.V. and will be developed into a complex of premium residences for elderly. The target audience are the senior residents of Amsterdam-South in particular. For residents that need it a broad and superior package of care will be offered. This care concept has a public character so will be accessible for the neighbourhood. This interpretation fits the programmatic and urban planning programs that the city has set for the transformation of this building.
The further planning is still being worked on, which the new owners will publish at a later time. In the meantime the building is used as a film set and a homeless shelter in the winter months amongst other uses.
Buyers were advised by P van den Bosch Commercial real estate agents.
